WHAT's GOING ON?

The Independent School for the City offers a diverse range of activities, where urban professionals can meet to informally discuss and work on the challenges of modern city, ranging from events and masterclasses to multiple-day programmes on contemporary urbanism. Film & Architecture Studio 2026 - We Are The City

An introduction to the language of film as a way to explore the relationship between film, cities and architecture, supervised by architect, curator, and filmmaker Jord den Hollander. Taking place between 04 September and 08 October 2026. Participation fee: 250 euro. Register here.

Building a Non Waste Community in Normandy

A hands-on international workshop with Césare Peeren of Superuse on Site, taking place in Vire, Normand (FR) from 21-26 September 2026. Participation fee: 200 Euro incl. basic accommodation options and meals. Sold out.

Research by photography with Ellie Uyttenbroek

A Research by photography studio with Ellie Uyttenbroek, exploring the style and gathering places of the urban tribes of Pendrecht and Zuidwijk, using Slinge as our runway. Taking place on Wed 30 Sept, Fri 2 Oct, and Fri 09 Oct. Participation fee: 100 euro. Register here

Housing First! Fighting Homelessness

A three-day studio about Housing First and how it can radically transform homelessness policy around the world. On the roots, challenges, and possibilities of this strategy, including its implications for architecture and urbanism. Taking place on Fri 20 Nov, Fri 27 Nov + Fri 4 Dec. Visible and Invisible Queerness in the City

An evening with Jaime Starr of the British National LGBTQ+ Museum and researcher Colin Keays. Organised in collaboration with Queer Built - an initiative of queer spatial professionals in the Netherlands, promoting inclusive architecture and giving voice to queer perspectives in the built environment.
